Altair and WEYV Unveil Vision for the Future of the Digital Economy
TROY, Mich.,
To transform the digital economy to a new and more equitable model for artists, creators and consumers.
“Today, under the guise of ‘free,’ consumers are accessing content in exchange for their personal data. We’ve seen the backlash this increasingly invasive model has caused,” said James R. Scapa, chairman and CEO of Altair. “Altair and WEYV are building a more sustainable model we believe will transform how society exchanges content.”
This model for accessing content is the patented digital content licensing platform on which WEYV is built. Altair also uses a similar model to license enterprise software to corporate customers. It is intended to benefit consumers in the following ways:
- Confidence knowing their personal information is not compromised
- Compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), enabling consumers to control what content is or is not accessible
- Ease of access to multiple forms of content via one platform across all devices
“We believe all content has value,” said Stephanie Scapa, CEO of WEYV, an Altair company. “The individuals and groups that create intellectual property – whether it be music, magazines, blogs, apps, podcasts or newspapers – should be fairly compensated.”
WEYV was created with the intention to benefit content creators through:
- Fair compensation for their intellectual property based on usage
- Exposure to a larger audience
